COVID-19 Update 5.26.2020
On Saturday I wrote to you about a member in our church that was awaiting COVID-19 test results. This person found out today that they tested negative for COVID-19. Praise the Lord! Thank you for your prayers.
I am thankful that we were able to resume onsite worship services this past Sunday. I look forward to seeing many of you this coming Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30 am. You are welcome to join us online as well!
COVID-19 Update 5.23.2020
I am looking forward to tomorrow as we resume onsite worship gatherings. Our worship services will be onsite and online at 9:00 and 10:30 am.
This week we have become aware of a member in our church that has exhibited some symptoms of COVID-19 and is awaiting COVID-19 test results. Some of this person’s family members have been on our church property in the past few days. After careful consideration, our leadership does not think it is necessary to adjust our plans for tomorrow’s onsite worship gatherings. Neither the ill person nor the person’s family will be onsite tomorrow. We are in prayer for this person and we ask you to pray as well.
We will work hard to ensure the safety of all persons on property, but please note that we cannot guarantee safety. You are receiving this email because we want to be transparent with you so that you can make an informed decision about attending services onsite tomorrow.
If you are exhibiting any signs of sickness, please do not attend onsite worship gatherings. Stay home and let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
Please practice good personal hygiene. Wash your hands, use hand sanitizer, and avoid touching your face. Soap and water will be available in our restrooms and hand sanitizer will be available throughout our facility.
We are encouraging the use of masks while on property and we are strongly encouraging the use of masks while singing. You are welcome to pick up a mask at the Information Table on Sunday.
Please maintain at least six feet between yourself and others in the hallways, the bathrooms, and in the worship center.
Please avoid physical contact including, but not limited to, handshaking, fist bumps, and hugging.
If you have any concerns at all about joining with us onsite tomorrow, please feel free to join us online instead. We are not pressuring anyone to return to onsite worship services. You are welcome to join us onsite or online. You choose!
Please keep myself and our leadership in your prayers as we navigate these uncharted waters. Please pray that God would give us wisdom and guidance.
I look forward to tomorrow as we gather in person and online to worship our Lord!
COVID-19 Update 5.13.2020
It has now been nine Sundays since we last gathered at our church facility. In March our leadership decided to discontinue onsite worship gatherings out of a concern for the well-being of our church family and our community. During this time we have broadcast our services on Facebook and our website. I hope you have been able to join us.
In recent discussions on resuming onsite worship gatherings we decided to conduct a congregational survey. We appreciate the 111 responses we received and the input that many in our church family provided. Our leadership has reviewed these results and we have decided to resume onsite worship services on Sunday, May 24. The service times will be 9:00 and 10:30 am.
Please note that we are only providing onsite worship gatherings at this time. Small groups and children’s ministry will not resume onsite until further notice.
Our staff and leadership have developed a plan to provide a clean environment for us to resume onsite worship gatherings.
Our cleaning services are provided by Jan-Pro Commercial Cleaning. We secured their cleaning services a few years ago. Prior to our resumption of onsite worship services, our facility will be thoroughly cleaned including our carpeting. We have contracted for our cleaning company to clean our facility three days each week.
In addition to the cleaning provided by Jan-Pro, we will clean door handles, high-contact surfaces, and bathrooms prior to and during our Sunday worship gatherings.
Our cafe and classrooms will remain closed. We will not provide coffee, drinks or snacks.
Please note the following precautions that we will have in place during our worship gatherings:
- We encourage the use of masks while inside our building and during our worship gatherings. We will provide a mask to those who do not have one.
- We strongly encourage the use of a mask for those who participate in congregational singing.
- Rows of chairs and sections of chairs will be spaced six feet apart. We encourage persons to maintain six feet between their families and others in each row.
- We will provide the worship guide and The Source on our church app. We will not provide printed copies.
- We encourage financial gifts to be made through our church app or church website. We will also provide access to our giving kiosk in the cafe and offering buckets will be placed at the front and back of the worship center.
- In the event we reach capacity in our worship service, we will provide an overflow space where the service can be viewed on a television.
In addition to resuming onsite worship gatherings on May 24, we will livestream our worship services on Facebook and on our website. This will allow those who are not able to gather with us to continue to participate in our services.
Please do not attend onsite worship gatherings if you have any symptoms of sickness. Please stay home and notify us if you have any needs.
We do not want anyone to feel pressured to return at this time if they feel uncomfortable doing so or if they have a compromised immune system or are a high-risk for contracting COVID-19.
Persons of all ages are welcome in our onsite worship gatherings. This includes infants, toddlers and small children. We will provide activity bags for children.
If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact us. I look forward to seeing many of you in person on Sunday, May 24.
Let’s work together to provide the cleanest environment we can at FirstNSB. I am encouraging you to wear a mask and I will do so as well (except for when I am preaching). Let’s love one another and work to insure the well-being of all who gather with us on Sunday mornings.

COVID-19 Update 3.19.2020
I hope you are doing well today! As you know, we will be broadcasting on Sunday mornings on our website and on Facebook. I wanted to send you a quick note to encourage you to help me connect more people in our community to our Facebook page.
What are some things you can do?
If you go to our page First NSB – A Family Church and scroll down, you will find a button Invite Friends. Consider inviting your unchurched friends to “like” our page.
When we broadcast live, you can share the broadcast to your timeline.
If you know people who are not on Facebook, you can let them know we are broadcasting on our website as well. Encourage them to join us at firstnsb.org beginning at 10:20 on Sunday mornings.
Let’s keep making disciples!
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD,who made heaven and earth.
