I used to ask what if questions. Actually, I still do at times. They are usually pretty ridiculous. But I would like for you to join me in considering some what ifs that I hope you won’t see as ridiculous at all.
What if all of us at FirstNSB committed to reading our Bible and praying every day? And then, what if we actually did it!?
What if all of us at FirstNSB committed to gathering together with our church family for Sunday morning worship and being present far more than we are absent? Additionally, what if all of us were actively involved in a small group with our brothers and sisters at FirstNSB?
What if all of us at FirstNSB intentionally prayed for non-believers every day? What if we shared names of people with those in our small group and we committed to join together in praying for those non-believers and praying for each other to share the gospel with them?
Sound ridiculous? I hope not. Sound like the way forward? I hope so.
Luke reports in Acts 2:43, “And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.” God was at work in the lives of the believers. They had repented of their sin and received Jesus as their Savior and Lord. They devoted themselves to the family of God—to the apostles’ teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. God’s work among this body of believers caused fear or awe among the people around them.
Could the same happen with us? Could those in our community and neighborhoods be struck by the mighty working of God among us?
What if we were all-in as disciples of Jesus Christ? What if we lived each day as disciples making disciples? New Smyrna Beach and Edgewater and beyond would be forever changed. We would be forever changed—for our good and God’s glory!
